Ira, who was expecting their fourth child, stayed at home with little Tihon (3 years old at the time). Lionja took the older two boys, Fadei (6) and Makar (5), and Sasha, Liouba (6) and I took the kayak trip on Tvertsa river.
Still fired up and ready to go.
The river rose to challenge human agency and will, peeking into the windows, knocking on the doorstep.
Sometimes we couldn’t tell whether we kayaked over land or sea or hidden Atlantises or other mysteriously drowned civilisations.
